The ‘S’ Range Specialist and Barbel rods have been with us for some time and remain deservedly popular. The reason is simple: they are built around the same proven foundations that make the ‘S’ Range such a pleasure to fish with — low-resin Japanese 36T carbon and a beautifully progressive feel — then tuned specifically for species such as tench, bream, chub and barbel.
Each rod is finished in our Perdurable blank finish, meaning no paint or lacquer is applied after precision grinding, so the quality of the material can be admired for years to come, with a finish that will not chip or flake like painted blanks. They are fitted with full cork handles, stainless steel fittings, a Clone reel seat with isotope slot and ‘S’-Lite guides, giving long-term durability and a clean, classic look.
The Seeker Specialist 12’ is designed for specimen fishing for bream, tench, chub and smaller barbel. Its progressive action is especially effective on weedy waters, where harsher rods can lead to hook pulls or line breakage. It will handle small to medium feeders, wagglers for float work and bombs up to 3oz, making it a genuinely versatile specialist tool.
The Barbel Seeker models have become true benchmarks for modern barbel fishing. Available in 11’ and 12’, with a test curve around 1¾lb, they cover most barbel situations with sensitivity and hidden power. The 11’ suits smaller rivers, accurate casting, snaggy swims and places where overhead obstacles make longer rods awkward. The 12’ covers most modern barbel fishing, except when the river is in full spate and extra power is needed lower down.
For those demanding conditions, we developed the Big River Barbel 12’, created specifically for rivers like the Trent, Wye and Severn when carrying extra water and more reserve power is needed through the butt and lower mid sections. Too often, “big river” barbel rods are simply carp blanks dressed as something else. This blank was designed from scratch, producing real stopping power while retaining a sensitive tip for registering the faintest bites.
The Barbel Seeker and Big River Barbel models can be used with dedicated quiver top sections, with three push-in quiver tips available separately.

Big River Barbel 12’ is the tool for rivers like the Trent, Wye and Severn when extra stopping power is required. Built for heavier water, stronger flows and more demanding conditions, it gives added power through the lower blank while still retaining the tip sensitivity needed for bite detection.

When bite indication is key:
The appropriate quiver top section can be added to the Barbel Seeker and Big River Barbel models, allowing anglers to tailor the feel with push-in tips to suit conditions, feeder size and flow. This gives extra bite indication and versatility when fishing feeders or when more visual sensitivity is required.

Weight note: Blank and rod weights may vary slightly from those quoted. We use stainless steel collars and butt caps for durability which will add a little to the rod’s overall weight but being on the handle should not adversely affect its balance.
Guide & Handle
For the handle length this is measured from the end of the butt section without the cap to the back of the reel seat since this equates to the normal position for casting and playing fish.
