The rod specially designed for the big Cats of the Ebro and other rivers is the Cat Tamer BAD Cat with a casting weight of 150 to 400 grams this will handle the largest and have banked specimens well in excess of 200lb during testing with some of the best guides on the river. We offer these in multiplier and fixed spool versions – both 10’ in length. The multiplier version has a smaller starting guide and more of the 4 leg low cradle guides so the braided lines in common use do not touch the blank. The fixed spool version has a 40mm starting guide moved further up the blank to aid casting and fewer guides.
For those wanting a more versatile rod to target other species including Cats are two rods - The Tamer Sports – also 10’ long. These are used to great effect at Gillham’s Resort in Thailand where they are used almost every day of the year to land world record Siamese Carp, Arapaima and other exotic species. With a casting weight of 100 to 300 grams these are also suitable for Nile Perch and Alligator Gar as the tip is lighter and more responsive than the BAD Cat. Again these come in both multiplier and fixed spool versions.
The ‘S’ Range Tamer Sport and BAD Cats are made in our 3k carbon finish and feature an interchangeable butt grip with both hard EVA and Gimbal fittings whilst the ‘E’-Sport features hard EVA butt grip and is made with an SEA-3k carbon finish. Long EVA fore grips help with hard fights and the Fuji reel seat is a size 20 FPS type for better durability. All rods feature our ‘Perdurable’ blank finish so will endure the harshest of conditions for many years of service.
